BALANCING CHEMICAL EQUATIONS

This is a skill that you need to ace this year in the Chemistry standard

The reason for balancing a chemical reaction is that you must have the same number of atoms on both sides of an equation

You cannot create or destroy atoms!! This is the conservation of mass

Notice how there are the same number of H and O atoms on BOTH sides
Notice how there are the same number of H and O atoms on BOTH sides

We balance equations by putting numbers (coefficients) in front of the atoms or molecules
